Does Minute Maid Park deserve its ranking? Sports Illustrated has ranked Minute Maid Park 21st out of the 30 Major League Baseball ballparks, but does it deserve its ranking as a bottom-tier ballpark? The ballpark is set for new LED technology in both the infield and outfield, and a brand new main scoreboard, ribbon boards, a center field mezzanine and more, set to be unveiled on Opening Day. Sports Illustrated also has unique food options this season, including pupusa hot dogs, beef tostadas, Italian sandwiches, seafood po boys, and funnel cake fries.

Maybe Minute Maid Park doesn't have a scenic overview like San Francisco Bay. And maybe the ballpark could stand to have the roof open more.

But does it deserve its ranking as a bottom-tier ballpark?

Although Sports Illustrated called Minute Maid Park a "feat of engineering and architecture", it recently ranked the ballpark 21st out of the 30 Major League Baseball ballparks. How fair that ranking is, is up for debate. Sports Illustrated writer Dan Gartland wrote that Minute Maid Park, "isn't much different from other stadiums with retractable roofs," which very well may be true. But, as USA Today wrote in 2022, "of all the retractable roof stadiums, Minute Maid Park has the most character." This is most notable when a train filled with giant fake oranges rides across the train tracks and blows its horn after every home run. The ballpark is also set for new LED technology in both the infield and outfield, and a brand new main scoreboard, ribbon boards, a center field mezzanine and more, set to be unveiled on Opening Day. Minute Maid also has some unique food options this season, like pupusa hot dogs, beef tostadas, Italian sandwiches, seafood po boys, and funnel cake fries.
