Eclipse forecast: Clouds and rain over much of Texas

The sunny skies over Texas this week won’t last too much longer, meaning sky conditions will be less than ideal during Monday’s total solar eclipse. A storm system (area of low pressure) is expected to move from the West to the Central U.S. in the weekend, leading to rain and mostly cloudy conditions for much of Texas during the total solar eclipse on Monday. In Houston, scattered rain is expected, with an off-and-on wet pattern expected for the remainder of the week. The National Weather Service predicts partly cloudy skies in Dallas for North Texas, possibly due to drier air in the Central US.

HOUSTON (KIAH) – The sunny skies over Texas this week won’t last too much longer, meaning sky conditions will be less than ideal during Monday’s total solar eclipse.

A storm system (area of low pressure) will move from the West to the Central U.S. this weekend. In Houston, scattered rain starts Sunday with an off-and-on wet pattern through the middle of next week.

As seen below, mostly cloudy skies are expected for much of Texas during the total solar eclipse on Monday. The National Weather Service is calling for partly cloudy skies in Dallas as drier air in the Central U.S. may make for less cloud cover in North Texas.
