New York Giants Have a Backfield Problem With No Easy Answer
Cam Skattebo's six-snap, zero-touch Saints outing leaves the Giants without a clear RB1 before Week 7 against the Houston Texans. The New York Giants are facing a significant challenge in their upcoming road game against the Houston Texans, with running back Cam Skattebo playing only six offensive snaps and receiving no touches in the loss to the New Orleans Saints. This comes after he had only handled 81 carries in the first five games. The Giants’ starting running back was Najee Harris, who was released on Tuesday. Coach John Harbaugh said the team was searching for a hot hand rather than executing a preplanned benching. The team needs a dependable early-down runner who can keep the offense on schedule and prevent the Texans from treating every possession as a passing situation. The pressure increases with J.J. McCarthy starting at quarterback, which could provide a credible rushing threat for McCarthy.
