Skims, the shapewear and basics brand founded by Kim Kardashian, may be preparing to open a brick-and-mortar store inside the Houston Galleria.

Permits filed with the state of Texas show plans for a nearly 7,000-square-foot Skims retail store on the Galleria's first floor, near Marc Jacobs, Tag Heuer and Alo Yoga. According to the Houston Chronicle, which first reported the development, the permits list New York-based Kenneth Park Architects as the design firm for the project. That's the same firm that designed the Skims store that opened in Austin outdoor shopping center the Domain last fall.

Representatives for Skims did not provide details to the Chronicle but did confirm that Houston is on the shortlist of cities for a future brick-and-mortar store.

Skims, which launched in 2019, is valued at $4 billion. The company offers body-conscious shapewear, underclothes, loungewear and swimwear. Certain items from the brand are already available in retail stores in Houston including Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue, but the Austin store marked an initial push into stand-alone retail stores for the brand. Locations in Los Angeles and New York are expected to open sometime later this year.

Skims is just the latest basics retailer to eye a Houston location. Earlier this year, beloved Japanese clothier Uniqlo filed permits for a new location—the first in Texas—to be located inside Memorial City Mall. A timeline for that store's opening has yet to be announced.

Recently, Kardashian was in the news for another reason. Last week she was sued by the foundation representing the legacy of artist Donald Judd, which has a location in Marfa, Texas. The foundation alleges that Kardashian was promoting knockoff Donald Judd tables as opposed to original tables designed by the artist.
