Eli Lilly breaks ground at Houston oral GLP-1 manufacturing site
The Lone Star State will host one of ten planned facilities in the US by the pharmaceutical conglomerate. Eli Lilly has broken ground on a large site in Houston, Texas, one of ten manufacturing sites in the US for the domestic production of pharmaceuticals, including oral GLP-1s. The facility will primarily produce Lilly’s new GLP/1 receptor agonist, orforglipron (Foundayo), an oral medication approved by the FDA for the treatment of obesity and weight-adjacent conditions. The site is part of Lilly‘s $50 billion commitment to onshore the domestic manufacturing of its pharmaceuticals. Facility represents $6.5 billion of investment and over 4,600 construction and manufacturing jobs.
