And now he’s allowed to train against his son.

On Friday, Darren Baker, a minor league player in the hit a crucial grand slam against his father’s team in the ninth inning, and the Nats won 11-7 in a spring practice game.

The 24-year-old isn’t exactly known for his punching power in his pro career ahead of Friday’s Grand Slam.

“I knew he was going to get in touch,” Dusty Baker said, according to MLB.com, “because he doesn’t lash out. But when the ball went up I just hoped it would be a sacrificial fly and be happy with it. He would get the RBI and we would win. But he nailed it pretty well. He had some good bats. I didn’t know if I should be a proud daddy or an angry daddy. “

Darren, who finished last season in Double-A, also scored in the eighth inning.

“It was incredible,” said Darren. “I don’t know when I was bullied like that in the dugout, Jeter [Downs] yelled at me. He was at second base in front of me. I don’t know, it was like an out of body experience.”

It’s not the first time father and son have gone head-to-head and swapped the two line-up cards ahead of Friday’s game.

“He thought he was going to play today,” Dusty said. “But he didn’t know when he was going to come in. [Nationals coach Tim] Bogar waved at me, and then my son waved for me to take out the line-up card.”
