FIEL and community members held a vigil Thursday calling for the release of Miguel Parra-Hernandez, who was struck by an ICE agent’s SUV in northwest Harris County earlier this month. FIEL and community members held a vigil in Houston for the release of Miguel Parra-Hernandez, who was hit by an ICE agent's SUV in Harris County earlier in the month. The vigil came after a separate incident involving ICE officers in Harris county also occurred. ICE claims that agents were targeting Jose Mendoza-Cervantes, whom they say they saw getting into Parra's truck. Parra Hernandez's attorney disputes this, stating his client does not know MendoZA-Cevantes and that the wanted man was not in the truck. The Harris County district attorney believes the collision was intentional. The ICE agent is on administrative leave during an internal investigation.
