Texans Make RB Decision After David Montgomery News
Houston Texans running back David Montgomery has been ruled out against the New York Giants, potentially opening a major role for Woody Marks. The Houston Texans are beginning to turn their season around after starting the 2026 NFL season 0-4, with back-to-back victories against the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the team has been struggling with the running game, particularly with running back David Montgomery, who has only rushed 52 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns this season. Montgomery, acquired from the Detroit Lions in March, has been ruled out for the second consecutive game due to a groin injury. The Texans will have just two running backs active against the New York Giants, not elevating practice squad running back Deuce Vaughn. This decision indicates the team is comfortable placing significant responsibility on second-year back Woody Marks.
