A black Kia Optima and a white Jeep Liberty were traveling on the service road of the South Freeway (South Highway 288). The impact of the collision caused the Jeep to hit a light pole and the passenger in the Jeep, a 29-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital. The female driver and male driver of the Kia received minor injuries. No charges have been filed yet, and the investigation is ongoing.

A black Kia Optima traveling northbound on the service road of the South Freeway (South Highway 288) struck a white Jeep Liberty traveling eastbound on Airport Boulevard, according to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer L. Fenoglio. The impact caused the Jeep to hit a light pole on the east side of the intersection.
The passenger in the Jeep, a 29-year-old woman, was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to Ben Taub General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The female driver, 27, of the Jeep and the male driver, 27, of the Kia were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.
No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
