Thousands of cans of Walmart-brand fruit cocktail recalled
More than 40,000 cans of fruit cocktail are impacted. Thousands of cans of Walmart's Great Value-branded fruit cocktail may have been contaminated with elevated levels of lead. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration designated the recall as Class II, meaning that consumption or exposure to the recalled fruit cocktail could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The 15-ounce cans were distributed to Walmart stores in Alabama, Arizona, Louisiana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wyoming. The recall was initiated on Oct. 1, meaning the impacted cans are no longer on store shelves. If you have a can of fruit cocktail matching the lot and date codes, it is advised not to eat it.
