Texans Position Group Report Card Following Loss to Giants
Evaluating weak offensive output, defensive lapses, and key unit failures following Houston’s frustrating 27–21 OT loss to the Giants. The Houston Texans lost 27–21 to the New York Giants in Week 7, ending their two-game winning streak and damaging their playoff ambitions. Despite being favored by many analysts, Houston could not finish the game against a Giants team led by J.J. McCarthy. C.J.-Stroud threw two touchdown passes, including a late game-tying score to Xavier Hutchinson, but Houston went three-and-out on its first overtime possession. Despite this, Houston's receivers struggled to create separation, the pass rush lacked impact, and the secondary allowed too many big plays. Woody Marks contributed 66 rushing yards for Houston, but the team needs to improve its run blocking and create cleaner lanes to take pressure off Stroud. The defense recorded just one sack by Danielle Hunter, while Will Anderson provided a significant contribution to the defense.
