Southern football falls on the road to Texas Southern in a game decided in the final moments
HOUSTON — Every Southern win this year has been followed by a loss. Southern football lost 24-21 to Texas Southern in a game at Reliant Stadium, which was decided in the final moments. The Jaguars had a chance to win consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference games. Tigers kicker Miguel Arana scored a 46-yard field goal as time expired. Despite a strong performance from Texas Southern, Southern's defense struggled. Coach Marshall Faulk's team converted a fourth-and-4 play when it was on the opposing 26-yard line with 4:36 remaining, setting up a new set of downs. Texas Southern's defensive play-calling was effective, with coach Cris Dishman taking over for the first time this season. The team's next game is against Florida A&M.
