The Portage Lake Pioneers, who have won the last two Kohlman Cups, are the team to beat this season. The Pioneers' success has been attributed to a transition to a younger roster, including forwards Gaborik Carlson, Landon Stevens, and Connor Raffaelli. The Calumets Wolverines have brought in some young players, including former Copper Kings standouts Nathan Londo and Rogan Gronlund, and Drake Neimala. Both teams are excited about the larger travel schedules and restructuring of the league.
