Concern is mounting in Houston as authorities continue to search for Keylan Roberson, a 12-year-old boy with high-functioning autism who has been missing for over a week. Keylan was last seen spending time with his uncle in Northwest Harris County before his disappearance on June 3. It has been reported by the Houston Chronicle that he was wearing a black shirt and red shorts in the 10500 block of Walnut Glen Drive.

Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman informed Fox 26 Houston that Keylan might be with his mother, prompting officials to urgently attempt to confirm his wellbeing. "We received a call of a missing 12-year-old," Constable Herman said, revealing their immediate efforts to actively search for the boy. To date, Keylan's definite location remains unknown, although the authorities hold firmly to the belief that he is with a family member. This belief, however, has not relaxed their unrelenting efforts to visually confirm that he is indeed safe.

Fox 26 Houston's investigation has also brought to light that last week, Precinct 4 officers were able to contact Keylan's mother via phone with hopes of arranging a meeting to ensure Keylan's safety. "That fell through so right now we're looking for the mother just to verify the child is ok," Constable Herman told Fox 26 Houston. As part of the ongoing investigation, the constable further emphasized the importance of physical verification as the current information at hand is not enough to clearly spell out the child’s current status.

Members of the community and law enforcement are concerned due to the unique challenges that could confront a young person with autism in such a scenario. Keylan’s aunt, Gloria Roberson, expressed gratitude to the community for its support and prayers, hoping for Keylan’s safe return so he can "continue thriving with consistency and surrounded by love,” as she shared in a social media update and cited by the Houston Chronicle. The National Autism Association also underscores the importance of thorough search efforts around sources of water, busy roads, and other potentially hazardous areas when an individual with autism is missing.

Authorities urge anyone with information about Keylan Roberson or his mother's whereabouts to contact the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office at 281-376-3472. As the community holds its collective breath, the search continues for the 12-year-old to ensure he is reunited safely with his family.
