Queer Things to Do in Houston, Oct. 22-25
Halloween weekend starts early: drag with a side of voter education at Pearl, Tituss Burgess at the Hobby Center, Families with Pride at Discovery Green, and a silent Phantom of the Opera scored live by ROCO. The Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Halloween edition of its networking mixer, featuring a costume contest and food trucks. Members will be able to enter the event free with advance registration ($25 at the door). The Montrose Center's discussion group for nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, and trans people will host a monthly night of arts, crafts, and conversation. The Alley Theatre's new work festival returns with three days of staged readings by Liz Duffy Adams, Jake Brasch, Gloria Majule, and Luis Quintero. A Tribute to Queen will be held at Arena Theatre in Houston. The fifth annual celebration of LGBTQ+ families will be hosted at Discovery Green.
