Kroger to break ground on new store with pharmacy and fuel center in Hockley

This is the H-E-B rival's first new Houston-area store in nearly a decade. Kroger is set to break ground on a new Kroger Marketplace store in Hockley, Houston, set to be the first in the Houston market this year. The new store will be part of a new 38-acre retail complex at 26217 Betka Road near Jubilee Haven and is expected to open in early 2028. The 99,000-square-foot grocery store will also have a pharmacy and fuel center. This is part of Kroger's Texas division's growth, with Texas Division President Rudy DiPietro expecting from 2028 to be building new stores every year. Additionally, Kroger has stores under construction in North Texas, with two set to open later this year and others in Crandall, Fate, McKinney and Princeton.
