Baytown couple traumatized from second swatting incident this year
A Baytown couple says their home has been the target of two fake crime alerts that led to police showing up to their door. Baytown, Texas, residents Ryan and Mimi Mengo have been subject to two fake crime alerts this year, one of which led to police showing up to their door in their home in July and another in October. Last July, police responded to a text message about a hostage situation at their home, but after searching the house and discovering no evidence, they were told their address would be flagged as a swatting incident in case there were similar calls. This incident occurred on October 15, when Baytown Police received a call about a male armed with a shotgun claiming to have shot his wife in the stomach and had barricaded himself in the bathroom with his nine-year-old son. Officials are now investigating the incident and working to identify who made the swatting call.
