Astros sign Taiwan agreement as Jim Crane eyes next wave of talent
The Astros’ agreement with Taiwan focuses on scouting, player development and talent exchange. The Houston Astros have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Taiwan and the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs and sports authority. The agreement aims to collaborate on baseball industry development, player scouting and talent cultivation between the United States and Taiwan. The Astros' manager, Jim Crane, praised the potential of more Taiwanese players who have played in Major League Baseball. This is not the first time the Astros have invested in Taiwan and Asia, following a three-year deal with Japanese pitcher Tatsuya Imai. The MOU doesn't specify exclusivity, but it could mirror the Los Angeles Dodgers' decades-long investment in Japan.
